my man damir and i were recently talking about how many people are/ have recently/ will promptly be heading overseas. it’s amazing to see just how many people i know on a personal level that want to explore the world and get themselves out there and immersed in another culture. i’ve spent hours this year pouring over pics from every corner of the world. sick art, historic places, mad people and so many other creative works of inspiration are out there for us to find; as cliché as that may sound… i’ve been lucky enough to travel a fair bit already so i thought i’d throw up a few snaps from some of the places i’ve been.

for a long time i was searching for a hip magazine that i could subscribe to. something i could collect and somehow feel slightly superior to the masses because i was the only one with it (i went through a similar phase with vinyl along with about 80% of the world until i, like them, realised i couldn’t afford to keep up my new hobby and everyone else was doing it too).

in spook magazine i found a local, well melbourne’s close enough, magazine that addresses current culture and touches on all the aspects of it that i find up my alley right now. sure, it might be a little pretentious at times but that really only elevated my interest in it. a magazine needs an identity and a bit of arrogance if it’s ever going to succeed these days… with features on air and alison mosshart (the dead weather) in the last issue, the mag shows that it’s keeping up with the trends and it’s online development is an increasingly interesting read. it’s cheap enough for your average uni student but contains all the art, music, film and cultural diversity you would expect of a far more expensive product.

have a gander of their webpage at http://www.spookmag.com/ and see if ‘spook’ manages to strut up your street too.

kanye keeps on churning out the tracks at the moment. this new beat features vocals from jay-z amongst other artists and is just another crackin example of why mr. west is, in my eyes, currently the pinnacle of the music scene. his eccentricity and arrogance is merely a platform for the creative genius that is kanye west, and beyonce’s video clip was exponentially better than taylor swift’s anyway… enjoy the monster.

claim: kanye west – monster (feat. jay-z, rick ross, bon iver & nicki minaj)

got my hands on some footage of my favourite kid from cleveland; cudi, performing at sunset strip music festival in l.a over the weekend. this new track ‘trapped in my mind’ will be on his upcoming sophomore record man on the moon II: the legend of mr. rager. keep your ears out for more tracks as the album’s release date edges closer.

my favourite track from cudi’s freshman creation, if you don’t already own it then i recommend you get your mitts around it light speed.
