It’s only six months late but the album of the year has finally arrived. Jay Z & Kanye West’s collaborative (referred to as ‘The Throne’ now) is absolutely ridiculous. Like, downright fucking epic! I am never, ever listening to anything else again… My life’s music quota has been fulfilled with Watch The Throne.

You know I’ll be checking them out on their US national tour when they come through Dallas in December. What the fu*k is up!

Kanye West – Mama’s Boyfriend

A track purporting to be a new song from Kanye West has been labelled as a fake by the artist’s label.

Universal released a statement today expressing their disappointment over the leak and claimed the song is “entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist’s creative intentions.”

As is often the unfortunate case, an unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West’s vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ sessions.

The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way.

The statement finished with a warning to whoever may be responsible for the leak.

“Needless to say measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons responsible for leaking this material.”

Quote – Triple J

Draws are so fkn underwhelming and anti-climatic. A 1-1 result against a team who are well above us in the league is a good result but it really feels like we should’ve won. At least the pre-match tunes were up to scratch this week, I’ve been a little slack in the music department so far this season but we’re back in business.

With a little something for everyone, tonight’s playlist went like this:

Big Boi – Shutterbug (featuring Cutty)

Drapht – Sing It (The Life Of Riley)

Tonite Only – We Run The Night

OFWGKTA – Drop (By Earl Sweatshirt)

Justice – Civilization

The Amity Affliction – Anchors

Linkin Park – Lying From You

Nero – Me & You

Kanye West – Don’t Stop! (feat. Child Rebel Soldier)

Life is good.

Well at the very least, life has been good to me lately….

Why the optimistic change of heart (I was never really pessimistic… just at times a little cynical) some might wonder?

To that I duly reply:

Good question sir/madam. Firstly, i’ve been watching a lot of Boardwalk Empire (sfa, awesome) on showcase and Skins US isn’t as much of a disappointment as I expected (fuckyeahtea.tumblr).  And ummm, oh did I mention that I just got a free ticket to Splendour In The Grass as a media representative?!?! Fuck yeah I did! Many, many, many thanks go to The Mouth, a dope Adelaide based music website I write the occasional review for and my editor Chris (fucking gu-ru) for hooking it up…

Keep thinking about it. Mull it over. Yeh, that’s right… A $510- camping and exclusive areas ticket… Free! It’s times like these I can appreciate all of life. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. And not just Western films either… other good, bad and ugly shit that goes on at a time like this is all good shit.

Holla at yo boy if you gon’ be present yo…

Yeh i’m already amped for Kanye.

Watching channel [v] last night with John we came across a few sweet ‘top 5’ segments, whereby the top 5 songs from a particular artist are chosen and played consecutively. Pretty simple, pretty dope concept… We came in half way through Rihanna and then had Kanye lined up after that. The general consensus was that the top five would be (in no particular order): Stronger, Goldigger, Jesus Walks and then two of All of the Lights, Touch the Sky or Love Lockdown (Touch the Sky being the least likely considering Goldigger is also from his sophomore record Late Registration).

Channel [v]’s top five was this:

5. Paranoid (808’s & Heartbreak)

4. Stronger (Graduation)

3. Through the Wire (The College Dropout)

2. The Good Life (Graduation)

1. Goldigger (Late Registration)

Firstly we were baffled that they wouldn’t include any of the songs from Kanye’s critically and commercially acclaimed fifth album – balls. Secondly, Through the Wire and Paranoid? Come on [v], they’re both awesome songs but neither of them made our fifteen song shortlist. Some crazy bastard has probably just gone ‘ummm shit these are my favourite five of his, let’s just play them’. You suck [v].

Oh but I won $5- from John for picking Goldigger as #1 and then doubled it by picking Knights of Cydonia as #1 for Muse (he went with Supermassive Black Hole) in the next top 5 segment. Gambling rules.
